14' Smoothwater

The Smoothwater is a light, maneuverable canoe primarily for the solo traveler for both general use and wilderness travel. It may also be paddled tandem for day outings. Either way, it is a stable and responsive canoe that moves through the water effortlessly.

Because of its size and weight, the Smoothwater is perfect for streams, ponds, and places with difficult access. It is capable of carrying 600 pounds for wilderness travel and portaging is as easy as it gets, especially with our light-weight version.

Named after one of our favorite lakes in northern Canada, the Smoothwater's design was influenced by Model #89 of the Peterborough Canoe Company.

For those seeking an ultra light weight canoe, we can build the Smoothwater achieving a weight of only 38 lbs. At this weight the Smoothwater is every bit as durable as any other canoe we build but it is recommended for solo use only and should not be used for heavy wilderness travel.
